 Innovation and Social Change

The Spring Hill College Italy Center invites you to participate in the month long (mid May to mid June) Summer Institute.  The Summer Institute is designed for community leaders, undergraduate students and future change agents to gain practical skills and hands on experience in working towards empowerment in their own communities


  • Daytime lectures on topics to include innovation, social change, leadership studies, and building coalitions in inter-religious communities.

  • Evening workshops addressing topics of gender, race, religious and political differences all which leaders must navigate in order to bring about long term change in their projects and communities.

  • Site visits to meet with officials at local NGOs, refugee and asylum centers, Islamic and Catholic centers in Bologna.

Students will be able to take 3 to 6 credits choosing from the following courses:

  • Gender Studies: Women and Feminism in Italy

  • Social Science: Immigration and Globalization

  • Theology: World Religions
